“Growing Up in Astoria” – A Mini “Astoria Film Festival”

The Greater Astoria Historical Society partnered with the Peter J Dellamonico-Steinway Senior Center offering films on weekends when most senior centers are closed. The series of films featured Hollywood Stars who grew up within Astoria. Both the Center and Historical Society worked together to spread the word. Afterwards, our Education Director led a lively conversation among participants both as to the film content, and reminiscing stories about the actors and the community in years past. Some seniors brought their (grand) nieces and nephews to enjoy the movies and listen to the discussions about life in Astoria from their childhood! The screenshots are from our website.
