George Ehret established the Hell Gate Brewery in 1866 in New York City. It became one of the nation’s largest breweries, producing 602,000 barrels in 1900. For the 25th Anniversary of the Brewery, Mr. Ehert wrote a book looking back on the history of beer in America and his own rise to fame.
