Note From the President
Tue May 1 2018
Dear Members and Friends,
As our annual holiday party this past December was also the eve of my 50th birthday, I was – at that moment – at my own “historical party” in my birthplace of Athens, Georgia, so was truly sorry to miss accepting the Presidency of the Greater Astoria Historical Society in person, and celebrate the season with you all at the same time. In addition to an office job in Manhattan, and being a vocalist and poet, I am also a history buff. And while I grew up in the South, my home has been Astoria for the past 18 years. I love my neighborhood here in Western Queens, have been a volunteer/member at G.A.H.S. since 2012, and am humbled by the knowledge and commitment of my fellow board members, proud of our work, and grateful for the support and loyalty of our membership.
I am looking forward to continuing our legacy of and expanding upon our mission to educate, preserve and advocate for our community.
I hope to see you soon at one of our upcoming programs,
DeeAnne P. Gorman,
President Greater Astoria Historical Society Board of Trustees
