Premiere Debut of the illustrated book by Lorraine Passero Thursday January 25 at 7 PM
If you have walked through the halls of MoMA PS1, you will be interested to hear about PS1 before it became part of MoMA. Founded in 1893, the school’s history unfolds through words and illustrations for the first time in Lorraine Passero’s latest book,P.S.1, A School for the Centuries, Long Island City, New York. The unusual combination of history and coloring book focuses on the former elementary school.
A descendant of a Long Island City Italian immigrant family, Lorraine will share a few memories and family photos of the 1920s through the 1950s. Her mother, a P.S.1 graduate, became the inspiration for the book.
Following the presentation, her new release will be available to be signed.
This program is supported by the membership of the Greater Astoria Historical Society and the surrounding communities of Long Island City.
