Summer of Women Film Series – “Silkwood”

In honor of the women who won the right to vote in New York State in 1917, we will be showing films about strong extraordinary women.

Saturday August 19 at 1 PM

This film, starring Meryl Streep, is inspired by the life of Karen Silkwood a nuclear whistleblower and labor union activist who died in a suspicious car accident while investigating alleged wrongdoing at the plutonium facility where she worked.

This program is supported by public funds from the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs.

Additional support provided by the membership of the Greater Astoria Historical Society.
