The Forgotten NY webmaster Kevin Walsh’s tour of Astoria was rained out in June, so we’ll try again under the auspices of Open House New York, whose annual extravaganza is this weekend.
Forgotten Tour: Astoria
Time: Saturday, October 15, 2017, 12 noon
We’ll take a look at some remaining vestiges of Astoria Village, the riverside town founded by Stephen Alling Halsey, and make our way southeast along a Revolutionary-era pathway toward the heart of Astoria and finish at the Greater Astoria Historical Society on Broadway.
Meet up: front of “Astoria’s Flatiron Building,” the former L. Gally Furniture Building, at 27th Avenue and Astoria Boulevard where they meet at 21st Street.
Q18, Q19, Q102 buses; 8 blocks west of Astoria Boulevard station of the N train.
Fee: $15 Greater Astoria Historical Society; $20 all others.
