F NY - Steinway
Sat Aug 20 2016, 12:00 pm
Saturday, August 20. Steinway Village, Queens.
Meet at 23rd Avenue and Steinway Street on the northwest corner (red brick building) at 12 noon.
Visit the small town created in large part by William Steinway for workers at the nearby Steinway Piano Works, still going strong in Astoria after over a century.
We will see residences, churches and businesses associated with the factory, as well as Steinway Mansion, which is getting more and more difficult to get a glimpse of these days.
Fee: $20, GAHS members $15
These programs are supported by public funds from the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs.
Additional support provided by the membership of the Greater Astoria Historical Society.
